A Greedy Emissary Event Guide 2025

A Greedy Emissary Event Guide (2025)

The goblins are back in town, and they brought more than just gold.

The Greedy Emissary event has returned to World of Warcraft for Patch 11.1.7, running from July 1 to July 29, 2025. If you missed it in 2023, this is your second shot at some of the best Diablo-themed cosmetics ever added to the game. This year’s version introduces new systems, more loot, and better ways to farm your rewards efficiently.

Here’s a full breakdown of what the event includes, how to participate, and how to get your hands on the new Hellfire Tier 2 sets and other exclusive rewards.

When and Where to Find Treasure Goblins

Treasure Goblins spawn every 30 minutes in the following locations:

  • Stormwind (by the docks)
  • Orgrimmar (just outside the main gate)
  • Dornogal (southeastern exit near the target dummies)

Portals appear at the top and middle of every hour. The goblin shows up five minutes later, giving you time to get in position and tag it. Loot is based on who tags the goblin first, so using a macro helps:

/tar Treasure Goblin
/cast [your instant-cast spell]

Special Spawn Mechanics in Undermine

In Undermine, goblins spawn a bit differently. Killing any rare in the zone may trigger a goblin portal about a minute later. Each rare can only spawn one portal per hour. You’ll know if a rare will not spawn a portal because it will have the Portal Problems debuff.

At 15 minutes past every hour, a Portal Storm happens in Undermine. This spawns five additional portals at once, many of them carrying multiple affixes and better loot potential.

New Affix System and Elixirs

In this version of the event, Treasure Goblins come with random affixes, giving them special abilities similar to Mythic Plus modifiers. You can influence these affixes by tossing Elixirs into the summoning portal before the goblin spawns.

Each goblin has up to two affixes. Stack more affixes and you’ll spawn more goblins:

  • 0 affixes = 1 goblin
  • 3 affixes = 2 goblins
  • 6 affixes = 3 goblins

Some example affixes include:

  • Arcane: Area bursts of Arcane damage
  • Blistering: Firebombs that deal Shadowflame damage
  • Connected: Spawns waves of Fallen mobs
  • Rich: Gold pools that boost Haste and Movement Speed
  • Trapper: Mines that zap for 11 percent max HP

Choosing the right Elixirs increases both risk and reward. If you’re farming aggressively, mixing affixes is a good way to force more goblins and get more chests.

Loot: What to Expect

Hellcaller Chests and Hellstone Shards

Treasure Goblins drop Hellcaller Chests, and your first 10 chests per account per day will guarantee 6 Hellstone Shards each. These shards are the currency you’ll need to purchase the best event rewards. After your first 10 chests, additional chests can still drop shards, but the chance is lower.

You can use Hellstone Shards to buy rewards like cosmetics, armor sets, and more. If you’re focused on getting shards quickly, there are services that can speed up the grind without missing daily cap opportunities.

Hellfire Tier 2 Recolor Sets

One of the main attractions this year is the Hellfire Tier 2 set collection. These are Diablo-inspired recolors of classic Tier 2 sets. They do not drop from goblins directly. Instead, you’ll need to collect 40 Hellstone Shards per set and buy them from Baranar in Dornogal.

If you’re aiming to collect the full set before the event ends, consistency is key. You’ll need to hit your daily goblin kills and secure your guaranteed shards. For players who don’t have time to farm daily, this service may help you stay on track.

Inarius’ Charger and Other Rewards

The new Inarius’ Charger mount is a dark recolor of Tyrael’s Charger. It’s exclusive to this event and available as a drop. There’s also a darker cloak transmog called Blood-Wrapped Treasure Bag, along with several temporary buff charms that last two real-world hours. These charms increase stats like Haste, Crit, Stamina, and Mastery, though they’re disabled in raids, dungeons, and PvP.

You can also loot returning cosmetics from past events, including:

Many of these only have a small chance to drop, and the best odds come from your first goblin kill of the day. Make sure you don’t miss that one. If you’re short on time or playing multiple characters, we also offer Treasure Goblin tagging and kill services so you can focus on what matters.

Daily Strategy

Here’s how to approach the event if you’re trying to get the most out of it:

  1. Hit your first 10 goblins daily to cap guaranteed Hellstone Shards
  2. Prioritize Undermine rares for bonus goblin spawns
  3. Use Elixirs to increase goblin affixes and spawn count
  4. Track Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal spawns on the hour and half-hour
  5. Don’t skip Portal Storms in Undermine at 15 minutes past every hour

If you’re consistent, you’ll complete your set and grab any mounts or transmogs you missed last year. If you’re not, there’s still time to catch up.

Final Thoughts

This is one of the most rewarding crossover events WoW has ever offered. Between the cosmetic sets, mounts, transmog weapons, and Diablo-themed extras, there’s something here for everyone.

The event ends July 29, and there’s no guarantee these rewards will come back again. Whether you’re grinding solo or looking to speed things up, the key is showing up each day and staying on top of your caps.

For those short on time, SkipTheGrind offers services tailored for each stage of the event, from farming shards to tagging goblins and unlocking the complete Tier 2 set.

See you in Dornogal. Don’t let the goblins escape.

Remember, we grind so you don’t have to!
