The Golden Lotus faction in Mists of Pandaria Classic is based in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and offers some of the most impactful rewards for endgame players. This reputation is directly tied to zone progression and culminates in powerful epic gear and exclusive mounts. If you want to farm Golden Lotus reputation efficiently and maximize your rewards, here’s what you need to know.
Unlocking Access to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms
Before farming Golden Lotus reputation, players must first unlock access to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. This process begins at the Temple of the White Tiger in Kun-Lai Summit. To open the gates, players must prove themselves through a short trial questline. This includes:
- A Celestial Experience
- A Witness to History
Once completed, you gain official entry to the zone and unlock the Golden Lotus dailies.
Daily Quest Hubs for Golden Lotus Reputation
Golden Lotus reputation is mainly earned through daily quests. These quests rotate across five hubs in the Vale. As your reputation level increases, additional hubs and quests become available:
- The Golden Pagoda: Available from Friendly, focused on eliminating the Shao-Tian Mogu
- Whitepetal Lake: Dive and recover artifacts, always available
- Mistfall Village: Rescue villagers and extinguish fires, always available
- Ruins of Guo-Lai: Unlocked at Honored
- Setting Sun Garrison: Unlocked at Honored
Each hub offers 4-5 quests. A daily elite quest also becomes available, which awards a Treasure of the Vale box containing valuable loot.
Quest Progression and Reputation Milestones
Reputation with Golden Lotus is tied to a questline that unlocks in phases:
- Neutral: Players complete quests like The Ruins of Guo-Lai, Out with the Scouts, and The Guo-Lai Halls.
- Honored: New quests like The Secrets of Guo-Lai reward gear such as a 440 item level ring.
- Revered: A new chain rewards a 463 item level chest.
- Exalted: The final quest series involves a fight against Zhao-Jin the Bloodletter and rewards players with one of several epic 489 item level necklaces.
Reputation Boosting Items
To increase your farming speed, consider these reputation boosters:
- Grand Commendation of the Golden Lotus: Doubles reputation gains across your account after reaching Revered.
- Hozen Peace Pipe: A rare drop that grants +1,000 reputation to several factions, including Golden Lotus. Has a 7-day cooldown.
Ancient Guo-Lai Caches and Treasure Farming
Ancient Guo-Lai Caches found in the Vale’s northern caverns require a key to open. These keys drop from mobs in the area. Caches contain:
- Cooking reagents and recipes
- Spirit of Harmony, Imperial Silk, and Scrolls of Wisdom
- Meta-gem recipes and Jewelcrafting pet patterns
- Rare items like Relic of the Thunder King and Skyshards
Skyshards can be collected to form a Sky Crystal. Using it removes Alani’s Nimbus Shroud, allowing players to defeat him and loot the Reins of the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent. Learning this mount requires Exalted status with both Order of the Cloud Serpent and August Celestials.
